Research published in The European Journal of Nutrition this week has finally cracked the myths surrounding eggs and cholesterol. The new study showed that people who ate two eggs per day, while on a calorie-restricted diet, not only lost weight but also reduced their blood cholesterol levels.

NPL - University of Surrey Strategic Partnership Launch Event

Following the signing in 2006 of Memorandum of Understanding that aspired to develop closer ties between the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and the University of Surrey, a strategic partnership has now been formed in order to build collaborative research and training in areas of mutual interest and benefit. This partnership will be launched officially on Wednesday, September 3 at the University of Surrey with a programme of workshops and public lectures during which winners of three jointly-funded full-PhD research studentship projects won in an internal competition will be announced.

Sleep researchers at the University of Surrey awarded £2.6 million in research funding

A multidisciplinary team of sleep and circadian rhythm researchers, led by Professor Derk-Jan Dijk of the University of Surrey, has recently been awarded two research grants with a total value of approximately £2.6 million. The grants, awarded by the UK BBSRC (Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council) and the US Air Force Office of Scientific Research, were given for studies into the question of how common genetic differences affect our sleep and waking performance.
