WattBusters Slashes Prices
2005-04-29 14:24:49
Good news people. We've cut the price of many products on our website. Due to volume purchasing, WattBusters can now offer the same great products at lower prices and pass the savings on to you.
As products come to market, we are able to work with manufacturers to acquire
larger lots of new and current items. With an eye toward cutting energy usage and the resulting reduction of pollutants in the air and water, we're excited by the positive impact each item brings to the environment. Changing a light bulb seems like such a small thing but when you add up all the energy-saving light bulbs being installed all over the country, we're making BIG changes.

New Cold Cathode Dimmable and LED Bulbs
2005-04-29 14:15:21
For
all of the people who have searched for an energy-saving replacement bulb to use in
dimmable chandelier fixtures, WattBusters finally has the ticket. We just acquired the TCP cold cathode line of light bulbs. The bulbs are excellent for dimming and rapid
on/off cycling applications and they use either 3 or 5 Watts. Light output is roughly equivalent to 15 - 30 Watt incandescent bulbs. The FlameTip series is a sharp looking bulb that comes in medium or candelabra base and has clear, frosted or white coatings. The bulbs dim very smoothly and are a great energy-saver for any multi-light chandelier. The rated life is 25,000 hours so you pretty much install them and forget them.

The Greening of the American Office
2005-04-29 13:58:55
Environmental Responsibility Doesn’t Stop at Home (ARA) – April 22nd marks the 35th anniversary of Earth Day -- and the good news is that more and more Americans are thinking of creative ways to recycle, reuse and be more environmentally conscious. But once you leave the confinements of “home sweet home,” what can you do from 9 to 5 to continue your “green” way of life?Just like your house, most offices consume water, energy, paper and other products -- the result of which produces a deluge of waste. But the office furniture industry is a prime example of a market segment that is quietly, but effectively, converting its product designs and manufacturing technologies to have a more positive environmental impact -- partially in response to government programs, but also because consumers are demanding products that are gentler on the environment. The industry, in fact, is responding to the green phenomena in some amazing, highly creative ways.

EPA Announces 1200 Yard Golf Ball
2005-04-29 13:51:41
If the EPA tested golf balls, would they whack it off the side of a mountain or along an ice-covered lake, measure the distance, set the average at 1200 yards and then state, "Your yardage may vary"? The testing methodology would clearly be suspect. It happens every day with cars. Have you ever noticed how the EPA's fuel economy 'estimates' differ from your real-world driving mileage? In many cases, they are not even close. Most of the time we don't give a hoot, but when gasoline prices start kicking up over $2/gallon we actually sit up and take notice.

Winter Static - Humidity in Your Home
2005-03-02 16:54:40
I don't need a groundhog to tell me that it's still winter. I keep waking up to new blankets of snow and my natural gas bills look like they are for two months instead of one. What's with that? I caulked, sealed the cracks underneath my doors and generally try to keep my thermostat down. One thing I hadn't given much thought to this season is the lack of humidity in my house. The first giveaway that something wasn't quite right is major static-electricity.

Car Wars - Hummer vs. Hoopty
2005-03-02 16:50:03
What kind of vehicle do you drive? Why did you choose that particular vehicle? Answering those two simple questions may open a window into the inner workings of your mind. I was pondering my answers to the questions while stuck in the morning rush hour traffic around Detroit. As I sat, looking straight into the bumper of a 2003 Hummer, I knew Mad Max would have been proud of me.My 1993 Tercel (i.e. Hoopty: beat up old car with a dull paint job and no hubcaps) braves the rush hour traffic and does an admirable job. It's kind of ugly and extremely small but it doesn't cost much at all to own.

Don't Get Caught with Your Parts Down
2005-03-02 16:34:04
Parts is parts, right? Not for business owners. If you own a business in the United States, you have another government regulation to deal with. It pertains to your lighting. The Department of Energy (DOE) will be implementing new regulations regarding the manufacture and sale of fluorescent lamp ballasts. According to the DOE, this will result in significant energy savings and emission reductions. Lighting accounts for 20-25% of all electricity consumed in the United States.

Out of Gas - Naturally
2005-02-03 14:54:58
Sometimes life has a roller-coaster feel to it. We're rolling along, happy and healthy. Your job is fairly interesting and it pays enough to keep you afloat and give you some of the perks you've always wanted. And then the roller-coaster begins the journey downward. Unseen situations can
combine, both in and out of your control. This can be a combination of layoffs,
downsizing, job loss, credit card debt, enormous winter utility bills, dying automobiles, etc. The bottom line is that you are aversely affected and it can make you feel emotionally trashed.
