HTC S740 live photos
Fri, 29 Aug 2008 10:49:24 -0800
The HTC S740 is one of the most anticipated smartphone and although we appreciate HTC's product photos (that look more like computer graphics rendering) there's nothing like live photos of our favorite gadgets. So yes, in the real world, it's less shiny, it gets dirty (blame your fingers) and thicker than one might think but it's still worth a look. HTC S740 specifications

WIFI-R approved by IEEE standards association
Fri, 29 Aug 2008 10:43:04 -0800
WIFI-R (802.11R) also known as Fast Basic Service Set Transition has been designed so that computers can roam from one access point to another seamlessly, without any disconnection. This would allow the construction of wide WIFI networks in cities. It could be great for free municipal WiFi, but we suspect that commercial applications might go to WiMax, which is a long-range wireless networking often thought as "WIFI on steroids". Amusingly enough, WIFI-N, which is widely deployed is still a draft.

Fortune Technology Surround Sound Base for Laptops
Fri, 29 Aug 2008 10:23:04 -0800
For those who can't stand laptop speakers, Fortune Technology has a couple of USB speakers that should provide much better surround sound (or sound in general) than whatever is in your laptop. With the additional bulk, I certainly hope that the quality is seriously better. Pricing is unknown, but that can't be so cheap.

Transcend T.photo 720 (fancy) digital frame
Fri, 29 Aug 2008 10:18:24 -0800
With features like calendar, clock, radio, music player and an alarm, the T.photo looks more like a fancy alarm-clock than a digital photo frame to me: I hope that it also has a light sensor to dim the backlight when in the dark. Transcend claims that it is using a special algorithm to "enhance the skin color tone" on the photos, but that sounds like some marketing fuzz that should be discarded. The device also has an orientation sensor to go from portrait to landscape when you hold it. You can copy your photos to the MicroSD card via USB. There is no word on pricing and availability.

Qingbar MP101 iPhone/iPod projector
Fri, 29 Aug 2008 09:38:10 -0800
Taiwanese company Honlai specializes in display devices. Among them, there's an intriguing iPhone/iPod/iPod Touch projector called Qingbar MP101. It’s kind of cute and quite frankly, it might even be useful in some situation (err... which? Wait, did I say that it was cute?). This LCOS projector is lit by an LED light and can project an image as big as 37". Note that it supports other video inputs via a standard composite connector. Now the question is: how much is it?

Samsung X360 ultra-light laptop is awesome
Fri, 29 Aug 2008 09:17:57 -0800
This small X360 laptop from Samsung is going to spark quite a frenzy. IT is in the same ultra-light category than the Macbook Air, but it has plenty of connectors and ports : 3xUSB, 1xHDMI, 1xVGA. Of course, with this thinness it does not have an optical drive. Customers can choose to use a 120GB HDD or a 64/128GB SSD depending on their budget. I would go for the HDD, unless I had a vibration/shock constraint. Overall, it is much more attractive to me than the Macbook Air. There is no availability or pricing information yet.Hightlights
13.3" (1280x800) display
No optical drive
2.8Lbs (0.66" to 1.2" in thickness)
120GB HDD 5400 or 64GB SSD or 128GB SSD
7-1 flashcard reader
3-USB ports
HDMI, VGA
Expresscard
Ethernet, WIFI, Bluetooth 2.0

Sony Bravia EX1 Wireless LCD TV
Fri, 29 Aug 2008 08:47:17 -0800
Freshly launched at IFA 2008, the Sony Bravia EX1 is an LCD TV that integrates wireless audio/video transmission to cut down on HDMI cables. On the photo, the picture is beamed from the box on the lower left of the TV to the display itself, but in the real world, one would probably find a better way to take advantage of the wireless feature. The Bravia EX1 will be available in at the end of the year in the following sizes: 40", 46" and 52". It was designed for the European market and would probably show up there first.
